Roswell Park Cancer Institute has set a groundbreaking for Thurs., April 18 for its new $43 million Clinical Sciences Center.
The state Department of Health issued its approvals for the project in February enabling the start of construction on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus adjacent to the existing hospital at the southeast corner of Carlton and Michigan streets.
Housing an expanded chemotherapy clinic, a breast center and patient education programs, Roswell's new 142,000-square-foot center will join the main hospital by connecting bridges.
The 11-story Clinical Sciences Center will also introduce community mammography services and other services to Roswell Park's 31,000 patients and families.
The project marks the first new construction on the Roswell Park campus since 2007.
