BUFFALO, NY (WKBW/BIZ FIRST) -- Catholic Charities has completed its annual appeal, just missing its fund-raising goal by less than 3 percent.
The organization ended its fiscal year June 30 with $10.27 million in pledges received, achieving 97.8 percent of its $10.5 million campaign goal. The goal was slightly higher than the total $10.4 million raised in last year's campaign, which missed its $11 million goal by 5 percent.
More than 64,500 donors contributed to this year's campaign, led this year by volunteer Michael "Mick" Whipple.
The campaign supports services provided by Catholic Charities within the Western New York region, including basic needs of food, clothing and shelter; counseling and support for victims of domestic violence; and other social and mental health programs.
Founded in 1923, the organization provides services through 70 programs at 62 locations.
