Business First: Southern Tier restaurant expands into West Seneca

A Southern Tier restaurant has landed a West Seneca site for the location of its first Erie County eatery.

Joseph and Dinah Grimaldi, owner's of JD's Smokin' Grill & Bar in Hinsdale, have acquired a vacant Ponderosa restaurant in West Seneca and will be renovating it for the couple's second business location. The Grimaldis paid $214,000 for the 5,500-square-foot Ridge Road building, according to documents filed in the Erie County Clerk's office. The building had been owned by Kin Properties, a Florida-based investment group.

"They wanted a central location and a visible one, too," said John Ticco, a broker with Pyramid Brokerage Co. of Buffalo, who represented the Grimaldis.

Arthur Judelsohn, also from Pyramid Brokerage, had the Ponderosa listing.

"The key was someplace that was central to Erie County and their other restaurant," Ticco said.

JD's, named for Joseph and Dinah, is located on Route 16 in Hinsdale.

JD's menu items run the gamut from "Red Neck" egg rolls, to homemade gumbo and traditional barbecue like ribs, beef brisket and pulled pork. Among its other signature items are fried chicken and sandwiches along with homemade desserts.

JD's is expected to open its doors in West Seneca by late summer or early fall.
