Business First School Rankings: Salaries

June 9, 2014 Updated Jun 9, 2014 at 9:06 AM EDT

Business First has assembled two databases with 2012-2013 compensation figures for 53,189 public school administrators and teachers in the 16 westernmost counties of New York.

• Pay for 28,452 Western New York educators

• Pay for 24,737 Rochester Area educators

Note that employees are not listed with job titles. Some may have shifted from one district to another in the ensuing year, and others may have retired. These lists are confined to cash compensation. They do not account for the cost of pensions, health insurance or other benefits, but they may include lump-sum payments for unused sick leave or vacation.

The information was provided by the New York State Teachers' Retirement System in response to a freedom-of-information request filed by Business First.

If you're interested in a broader range of high-end salaries, Business First last week posted a separate database of 43,405 six-figure salaries for officials at public school districts all across New York State.

Western New York includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties. It is divided into 98 school districts.

The Rochester Area includes Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates counties. It contains 67 school districts.
