It appears to be the same, old story. Pittsford once again leads Business First's academic rankings of the Rochester Area's public high schools.
But it's actually a new story -- and so is the name of the leader.
Pittsford Sutherland High School has moved into first place this year, replacing its neighbor, Pittsford Mendon, which had topped the standings the previous four years.
The difference between the two schools is extraordinarily slight. They're separated by just 0.06 points on Business First's 100-point rating scale.
Rounding out this year's list of the top five high schools in the Rochester Area are Honeoye Falls-Lima, Brighton and Penfield. (Click here for a quick rundown of the top 50 high schools in the eight-county region.)

Business First rated 85 public high schools across the Rochester Area, using four years of Regents test data and graduation rates. All raw statistics came from the New York State Education Department.
Sixteen schools are winners of this year's subject awards, which means they rank among the top 10 percent of all Rochester Area high schools in English/foreign languages, mathematics, science or social studies.
Four schools have swept subject awards in all four fields: Brighton, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Pittsford Mendon and Pittsford Sutherland. Three others have won three of a possible four awards: Fairport, Odyssey Academy and Penfield.
The Rochester Area is defined as a region that includes Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates counties. It contains 67 school districts.
Business First has rated schools in Western New York (the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area) since 1992. It added separate Rochester Area rankings in 2010.
