Business First's 2014-2015 Guide to Western New York Schools offers countless examples of excellence, highlighting the records of districts and schools that are performing at a consistently high level.
Then again, countless may be an inappropriate word. We actually do have a hard count.
Follow the link for a slideshow that features precisely 102 districts and schools that have something to brag about.
We've included the 14 districts that made this year's Honor Roll, as well as every district that won a subject award.
We've also listed every high school, middle school or elementary school that finished in the top 10 percent of its category's overall standings and/or won a subject award. (The top 10 percent constitutes 14 high schools, 21 middle schools and 28 elementary schools.)
School districts and high schools are eligible for subject awards in four fields: English/foreign languages, mathematics, science and social studies. (The first award is listed merely as English in the slideshow.) Middle and elementary schools are limited to a pair of subject awards: English and math.
A few schools are standouts in two age groups. You'll see both categories enumerated under a single heading in those instances.
