Business First Rochester High School Rankings

June 7, 2012 Updated Jun 7, 2012 at 7:09 AM EDT

Pittsford Mendon High School once again holds first place in Business
First's academic rankings of Rochester Area high schools.

Neighboring Pittsford Sutherland remains in the No. 2 position, while
Brighton High School and Honeoye Falls-Lima High School are respectively
third and fourth, just as they were in 2011.

Penfield High moves up from sixth place last year to round out this year's
top five.

Full details will be available in Business First's 2012-2013 Guide to
Western New York Schools, which hits newsstands on June 15th. Highlights are also available right now (Thursday) at the newspaper's website:
http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo.

Business First rated 89 public high schools across the Rochester Area, using
four years of results from a wide battery of Regents exams, as well as
Regents diploma rates. All data came from the New York State Education
Department.

A total of 112 statistical indicators were analyzed for each school -- 13
Regents tests per year, two results per test (the percentages of students
who achieved basic, 65 or up, and superior, 85 or up, scores), for four
years, along with four years of Regents diploma rates, both advanced and
basic.

The Rochester Area is defined as a region that includes Livingston, Monroe,
Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates counties. It contains 67 school districts.

Business First has rated schools in Western New York (the Buffalo-Niagara
Falls area) since 1992. It added separate Rochester Area rankings in 2010.
