There are 147 private schools in WNY's eight-counties. School just got back in session, but many private schools are hosting fall open houses and entrance exams in preparation for next year's enrollment. Open houses are considered a key component of the recruitment process. Business First rankings also play a role in decision making.
Note: the rankings are based on NYS state test scores so some schools like Nichols, Canisius and the Park School cannot be ranked because they use their own testing.
Here's a look at the top private high schools.
Nardin is first, followed by Sacred Heart, then Christian Central Academy. St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute is fourth and Mt. St. Mary's is number five.
There's a change in the private elementary school rankings. St. Gregory the Great school in Williamsville jumped to first. Southern Tier Catholic School in Olean slipped to second. Christ the King is third. Nardin Academy is fourth and St. John Vianney in Orchard Park is fifth.
