Want to know about a current development project in the area? It's in Core Strength, the new Business First publication.
Researchers say $8.1 billion worth of construction projects were completed, are underway or in planning stages, in Erie and Niagara Counties since 2010.
The 378 projects are broken down into 12 districts in Core Strength.
For example, in the Northern Suburbs, $1.45 billion in construction is in the works. Development officials say the appetite for office parks and shopping plazas has slowed, but the focus is now on redevelopment, hotels, schools and more. Projects range from the new Independent Health YMCA to Trader Joe's.
Taking a look at hotel development in the Northern Suburbs:
There will be 137 rooms at the Hyatt Place Hotel, which is under construction off Main Street in Snyder.
120 rooms at the new Wyndham Garden Hotel that just opened in Williamsville.
102 hotel rooms are being built at the Staybridge Inn on Sweet Home Road.
96 will be at the Lord Amherst Hotel in Snyder, when renovations are complete.
Heading to South Buffalo and Larkinville, which includes the Outer Harbor, researchers say $335.4 million is being invested in construction.
