A new agreement will see Buffalo Medical Group PC provide physicians at Sisters of Charity Hospital through its hospitalist division.

The agreement will have BMG hospitalists begin seeing patients at the Catholic Health System hospital later this summer.

Hospitalist physicians will work as part of the health care team, providing patient care in the acute care setting throughout a patient's hospital stay, while consulting with specialists as necessary and coordinating care transitions with patients' primary care physicians.

Joe McDonald, president & CEO at Catholic Health, said in the announcement the relationship will enhance care coordination, provider communication and smoother transitions from hospital to home.

BMG, which began its hospitalist program in 1999, also provides hospitalist services at other acute care settings in the region, including Buffalo General Medical Center and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, both part of Kaleida Health. Ranked No. 2 on the Business First list of area medical groups with 102 physicians, BMG also has affiliations with Erie County Medical Center, Roswell Park Cancer Institute and other hospitals in the region.
