Buffalo Job Market Rises A Bit

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The job market for the Buffalo - Niagara Falls area showed improvement in July, adding 2,600 private-sector positions, up 0.6 percent, compared to a year ago.

The overall job picture - nonfarm jobs - showed a gain of 2,400, up 0.4 percent.

Rochester once against set the pace for Upstate New York, tacking on 8.900 private-sector jobs, up 2.1.

The state Labor Department report said that since the beginning of the economic recovery in November 2009, New York has added 346,900 private-sector jobs. The state regained all of the private-sector jobs it lost during the recession. In comparison, the nation has only regained 44 percent of the private-sector jobs lost during the recession.

The report said that overall, the state's private-sector job count now stands at 7.33 million.
