One of the region's larger public accounting firms has acquired two smaller firms.
Brock Schechter & Polakoff LLP announced this week that it has folded Gould & Swanson PC in Buffalo and John P. Whitty CPA PC in Clarence into its practice. The acquisition adds nine new employees to Brock Schechter & Polakoff's staff roster.
Terms of the deal, which took effect Jan. 1, were not disclosed.
Gould & Swanson is a 45-year-old accounting firm, while John P. Whitty has been in business for 23 years. Both specialize in tax, assurance and consulting services.
Brock Schechter & Polakoff works with businesses in Upstate New York, Pennsylvania and Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1972, it has offices in Buffalo and Wellsville and offers accounting, auditing, taxation, business, human resource and estate consulting services.
