The Bonadio Group LLP plans to consolidate its newly expanded Western New York operations into a single office at 100 Corporate Parkway in Amherst, where the public accounting firm will lease more than 35,000 square feet from Uniland Development Co.

The fast-growing company confirmed this week that it has signed a 15-year lease with Uniland to occupy the entire second floor of the five-story office building located next to Interstate 290 near Millersport Highway. The office is set to house about 130 employees.

Much of the second floor at 100 Corporate Parkway - 22,000 square foot - was most recently occupied by Gaines Kriner Elliott LLP, the public accounting firm that merged with The Bonadio Group on Nov. 1. Former Gaines Kriner employees have continued to work out of 100 Corporate Parkway while legacy Bonadio employees have stayed put at the firm's Sheridan Meadows Corporate Park-North office on Sheridan Drive.

Bonadio has leased 10,500 square feet of space at Sheridan Meadows since 2003.

"After evaluating our options, we concluded that expanding at Corporate Parkway is the right move for our newly combined Buffalo staff," Thomas Bonadio, CEO and managing partner of The Bonadio Group, said in a release. "By expanding to the entire floor, we can create the best atmosphere for visitors and excellent work conditions for our people."

Once renovations of the new space are complete, the 45 Bonadio employees who work at Sheridan Meadows will relocate to Corporate Parkway. No move-in date has been set, but employees could shift over to the new space as soon as July, the company said.

The new space will include 56 offices, 91 workstations, four conference rooms, a boardroom, break rooms and video-conferencing capabilities.

First announced last September, the merger between The Bonadio Group and Gaines Kriner Elliott is the largest in Bonadio's history. The deal included two subsidiary companies, Gemko Information Group and Athena SWC, along with two smaller Gaines Kriner offices - one in East Aurora and one in Batavia, both of which will remain open.

Post-merger, The Bonadio Group is the third-largest public accounting firm in Western New York, according to Business First research. Based in the Rochester suburb of Pittsford, the company entered the Buffalo market in 2001 when it acquired MS Consultants Inc. in Williamsville.

Since that time, it has been steadily growing its footprint, mostly by merging with smaller CPA firms, many of whom specialize in certain areas. Also last year, it opened its first out-of-state office when it merged with Independent Audit Associates in Rutland, Vt.
