Teacher experience can pay off in the classroom. And Business First says the Chautauqua Lake Central School District has the most experienced corps of teachers in all of Western New York.
Business First rated teacher experience, based on the number of years that all fulltime teachers have spent on the job.
Eighty-one percent of Chautauqua Lake's teachers have worked in classrooms for more than a decade -- the highest figure in any Western New York district.
Canaseraga has the region's lowest rating for teacher experience, with Pine Valley and Ripley just ahead of it in Business First's rankings.
After Chautauqua Lake, rounding out the top five in this year's teacher experience standings are Westfield, Akron, Ellicottville and Niagara Falls.

Business First says Mighty Taco will open its Downtown Buffalo location on July 9. The 22nd location for Mighty Taco will be on the first floor of the Calumet Building on Chippewa Street between Pearl and Franklin. The space was once the Third Room and, more recently, La Luna nightclub. Mighty Taco is also planning to open a new N. Tonawanda site this year.
