Bills Step Up Security Through Pat-Downs

September 15, 2011 Updated Sep 15, 2011 at 1:34 PM EDT

The Buffalo Bills will be implementing an enhanced pat-down procedure starting with this Sunday's home opener at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Team officials sent out a news release saying they want to communicate the new process to all fans attending the game against the Oakland Raiders.

According to the Bills, the latest procedure is a recommendation from the National Football League in accordance with the league's Best Practices policies. Specifically, the enhanced portion of the pat-down is for the area from the knees to the ankles.

With the regular season here and much bigger crowds than that of preseason, the Bills again recommend that fans arrive early to the gates, especially with the enhanced pat-down now part of the security measures taken at the stadium. The organization also continues to remind fans of the changes to the game day traffic patterns for all Bills home games, particularly with the closure of Abbott Road directly in front of the stadium beginning five hours prior to kickoff.
