It's a challenge for teachers to learn the names and needs of students at the start of the school year. Imagine how easy it would be for students to get lost in the shuffle.

There's been a lot of attention on class sizes this year as many districts have cut teachers due to budget issues.

The Business First Guide to WNY schools includes a ranking for student access. The goal is to identify districts where students have the best access to teachers and other educators including guidance counselors, librarians and nurses. The best scores go to districts with low teacher educator ratios.

The top districts for student access include: West Valley at the top of the list, followed by Wyoming, Canaseraga, Pine Valley and Ripley.

Some of the worst districts for access include: Eden, Alden, Orchard Park and Cheektowaga-Maryvale. You can get full details in the Business First Guide to WNY Schools.
