It's only July, but back to school supplies are lining store shelves. Many displays were out before the Fourth of July. Studies show most shoppers are hoping to hold out for bargains, despite early efforts from retailers. A new survey by offers.com shows that nearly half of consumers will wait until August to do back to school shopping. The survey finds that, of the parents with school-aged children, 47% plan to do their back-to-school shopping in August even though retailers are trying to lure shoppers in early.
And savvy shoppers say they're looking for bargains this season with 85% looking for deals on clothing. 80% are looking for deals on shoes. 68% are looking for deals on school supplies. 57% are looking for deals on backpacks. 21% are looking for deals on a computer/tablet.
Only 3% of consumers say they are not looking for deals at all.
