BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The Children's Guild Foundation will announce Monday a $2 million commitment for the new Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo planned on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

The gift will support the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), to be named the Children's Guild Foundation Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Kaleida Health is planning a ground-breaking for the $200 million facility next year, with completion slated for late 2015. Plans call for a 10-story, 430,000-square-foot building at the corner of High and Ellicott streets.

The Children's Guild Foundation has supported Women & Children's for nearly 100 years. The organization, a separate nonprofit that operates as a private foundation, also established The Children's Guild Foundation Autism Spectrum & Disorder Center at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo with a $585,000 grant in 2009.

The $2 million gift is the single largest gift in the guild's history.

Details of the gift will be announced Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. during a news conference inside the Gates Vascular Institute on Ellicott Street.
