The Queen City Pop Up Spring 2016 Edition will make its debut at 517 Main Street Thursday.

The temporary retail outlet transforms a vacant storefront along Main Street in Buffalo into a destination for unique gifts from local retailers.

There's everything inside from jewelry, to vintage wear, to purses and shoes.

The four businesses inside include Buffalo Love Tees, Vixen Fashions, The Atinga Project and Phenomenal Expressions.

Maureen and Glenn Roberts from Calgary Canada made the very first purchase Thursday while on their first trip to Buffalo. Already they can say they love Buffalo and what Queen City Pop Up is all about.
"A collaboration, where everyone comes together to make it successful," said Maureen.

"It's impressive. Certainly we've learned and read a lot of things about Buffalo and how the city is moving along and transforming back to the early days of success," said Glenn.

The Queen City Pop Up is a collaboration between Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, the Urban Development Corporation (BUDC), Buffalo Place, Working for Downtown, New 500 Block, LLC, the Buffalo District of the U.S. Small Business Administration, and participating retailers.

New 500 Block, LLC has agreed to sponsor the retail space at 517 Main Street for the participants.

"Since we have opened the 700, 600 and 500 block of Main Street at a cost of about $55 million, we have seen all the way from the medical campus all the way down to Canalside - over $500 million worth of investment on Main Street," said Mayor Brown.

The 2016 Spring Edition of the Queen City Pop Up open will remain open through the end of July.
