Area doctors are hoping state officials say yes to an ambulatory surgery center in Orchard Park. It comes back for a second vote on Thursday afternoon.

The Southtowns Ambulatory Surgery Center is planned for Big Tree Road. The project involves Kaleida Health, the University at Buffalo School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences and two dozen surgeons. State officials say Western New York has fewer ambulatory surgery centers than other parts of the state.

More demolition is planned for the Millard Fillmore Gates Circle site. This summer, developers will demolish the former hospital. First, they want to raze a smaller building on site, which is now empty.

Officials from Gates Circle Holdings  will meet with The Buffalo Planning Board on April 21 hoping to get the OK.
