What better way to celebrate the symbol of the City of Buffalo, then with a national day of celebration. In honor of National Bison Day, the Buffalo Zoo hosted bison-themed activities for families to enjoy on Saturday, November 5. 

The free event featured the zoo's resident bison, Rose, Betty and Wilma and even a guest appearance by Buster Bison who was on hand for pictures and autographs with his fans. 

Considered a historical symbol in U.S. history, the Bison officially became the National Mammal earlier this year when President Barack Obama signed the National Bison Legacy Act.
