There are 2,000 students in Buffalo State's class of 2019.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Equipped with boxes, bins and a bit of nervousness, hundreds of students in Buffalo are beginning a new chapter of their lives.
Buffalo State College is welcoming its' biggest freshman class ever. Nearly 2,000 students make up the class of 2019. Close to 1,300 of those students are living in residence halls.
"We have no room left so we have tripled all of our students," Dr. Katherine Conway-Turner told 7 Eyewitness News.
She says the housing crunch is a result of increased enrollment at the college and more upper classman choosing to live on campus.
The overflow for student housing is actually off of Buffalo State property. The college has partnered with neighboring colleges including Medaille and Canisius.
So what's contributing to the record setting enrollment? Conway-Turner points to two factors: word of mouth and affordability.
A recent survey ranked Buffalo State a "Best bang for the college buck" by Washington Monthly.
