The Buffalo School Board is opening its Wednesday night meeting to public comment regarding the transgender bathroom policy.

The policy is currently in draft with officials at the school. The board is the only body that can approve the bathroom policy.

The policy would allow students to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with. This is a DRAFT of the policy.

"Your two sentence policy opens up the door to every pedophile known and unknown," said one man at the meeting. "It opens up the door to every registered and unregistered sex offender."

"Some people as adults... we really just don't want our daughters to see a penis in the bathroom," said another.

Amidst some moments of chaos, the majority of speakers at the meeting were in support of the policy.

"I want my children to attend a school where transgender students are safe, accepted, and treated with dignity," said one parent.

"The idea of privacy and safety should be brought under consideration and we will continue to seek your council as we make this a comprehensive and appropriate policy for all of our students," said Buffalo School Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash.

The Buffalo School Board will not be voting on the policy during Wednesday's meeting, but will at a future board meeting.

Some parents have started a petition, encouraging the board to sign the transgender bathroom policy.
