A mother of five has died after a shooting on Butler Avenue.

Family and friends tell 7 Eyewitness News the victim is Lakendra Tillmon, 31, of Buffalo.

Buffalo Police say the shooting happened around 1:45 p.m. Thursday in the first block of Butler Avenue.

Police say the victim was struck by gunfire while inside a vehicle. Three children, ages five to nine, were also in the car at the time of the shooting. Other kids were outside playing.

A neighbor, who does not want to be identified heard the gunshots and ran out to help Tillmon.

"There was blood everywhere," she said. "A neighbor brought scissors to try to free her from the airbag."

Tillmon was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where she later died.

The Devastation Dance Company on Bailey Avenue in Buffalo will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accept donations of clothing, shoes and money for the five children Tillmon left behind.
