Buffalo Jills lawsuit prompts new bill

ALBANY, N.Y. (WKBW) - The lawsuit surrounding the Buffalo Jills is inspiring a new bill in Albany.

A downstate Assemblywoman introduced the legislation that would require professional sports teams in New York to provide cheerleaders with the proper pay and benefits required under existing employment laws.

Five former Buffalo Jills cheerleaders are suing the Bills and the NFL, claiming they were paid below minimum wage and sometimes not paid at all for mandatory appearances.
