Buffalo Italian Heritage Festival kicks off 30th year at Outer Harbor

After 29 years on Hertel Avenue, the GalbaniBuffalo Italian Heritage Festival is moving to the Outer Harbor.

Everything you know and love about the Italian Festival remains the same, just with a new backdrop of Lake Erie.

One major benefit of the move is free parking, with a free parking shuttle to the festival gates. 

Daily activities include Bocce ball Tournaments, Italian Idol, and Miss Italian Festival, as well as cultural heritage activities, cooking demonstrations, local entertainment, crafts, activities for kids, grape stomping contests, Sicilian puppet shows, an Italian car show, a Ducati motorcycle show, and more.

Event highlights also include a Celebrity Cheese Building Contest for Charity on Sunday July 16 at 2 p.m. and a live performance by Sal Valentinetti, a finalist on “America’s Got Talent,” Season 11 on Saturday, July 15 at 8:30 p.m.

The festival runs Thursday July 13th to Sunday, July 16th from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. 

Daily ticket prices for the festival are $5 per person; $2 for seniors 62 and older with ID; and free for Veterans with ID and children 12 and younger.

Also, new this year, a special Festival Weekend Pass is available for $15.

Admission will be free to the festival on Thursday, July 13 and Friday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. 

No backpacks, dogs or weapons will be allowed. Security will search bags and have metal detector wands.
