Drivers using the Thruway and the I-190 ramps need to find alternate routes over the weekend.
According to the Thruway Authority, closures for bridge repair work will begin on Friday, November 18, and run until Monday, November 21.

I-90 Westbound at exit 53 Closure Schedule:
- Single Lane Closure 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday
- Double Lane Closure 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday
- Full Westbound Road Closure 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday
- Single Lane Closure 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday
- Double Lane Closure 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday
- Full Westbound Road Closure 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday

I-190 Southbound to I-90 Eastbound Ramp Closure Schedule:
- Full Closure 7 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Monday

I-90 Eastbound to I-190 Northbound Ramp Closure Schedule:
- Full Closure 7 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Monday
The Thruway Authority says the repairs are necessary after an accident in July when the exit 53 overpass was hit by a vehicle with a large excavator traveling southbound on I-190 to I-90 eastbound. The damage to the overhead bridge was severe.
