The family of Amanda and William Green, the Buffalo couple who fell to their deaths over the summer at Zoar Valley, are taking time this holiday season to thank the Western New York community for its support.
The couple left behind their two young sons, seven year-old Jake and four year-old Xander. The boys were hiking with their parents that August day when tragedy struck. Rescuers found the boys and treated them for their injuries.
In a statement to 7 Eyewitness News, the Green family said:
Although we will be missing Amanda and Bill at the dinner table this year, we still have so much to be thankful for: that our boys are still with us and recovering day by day; for the tireless work of the first responders and medical staff that made that possible; and most of all, the fact that we are part of such an unbelievable community that came together in ways we could never have imagined.
The people of Western New York, and even across the country, will forever be in our hearts.
