No birthday cards this year for 11-year old Quentin Santercole. Instead of receiving gifts for his birthday, the young boy asked his family and friends to make donations to a certain charity.
“My brother he is autistic so he goes to Summit and I would rather give than have,” Santercole said.
He told his family and friends to donate to The Summit Center. At the facility works with nearly 2,700 children and teens with developmental disabilities. One of those students is Quentin’s over brother, Kubrick.
“It’s so awesome and incredible to see a 11 year old boy being so self-less and so giving and charitable,” said Ashley Coder with The Summit Center
Santercole’s mom, Juli said her son’s charitable heart didn’t just happen now. He first started donating to local charities 3 years ago. It started with Quentin collecting toys and giving them to kids with Cancer at Roswell Park. He did it in honor of his mom, Juli who was diagnosed with lung cancer when he was 8 years old.
“He thought instead of getting gifts for his birthday, he would share joys and gifts to other kids,” Juli Santercole said.
Then Quentin started collecting hats and gloves for another homeless organization. After hearing about his mission, the FC Buffalo Soccer team jumped on board. They are letting Quentin have his birthday party at their game tonight (May 27, 2016) at 7pm at the All-High Stadium in Buffalo. The team is donating half of ticket proceeds from tonight’s game to Summit Center.
The 11 year old said he plan to keep this charitable birthday giving a tradition for years to come.
