December 29th, 2010
I'm back, refreshed, and ready to go following a nice year end vacation. Like many, I love the holidays.
I like to take time off each year to enjoy them with friends and family, but this year was extra special.
For the first time my wife and I celebrated Christmas with a child a tow.
Our son Henry was born on Halloween, and was simply a bundle of joy to have around this past week.
At only 8 weeks old Henry didn't do much. He's apparently not ready to use the snow blower (who knew?), or help me wrap presents.
He didn't crawl, walk, or even talk. He was just our little guy Henry, and that was just fine with us.
He slept through opening his gifts, he slept through most of Christmas dinner, in fact he slept a lot... just not between the hours of 1am and 8am.
I didn't mind.
People used to tell me having kids "changes things". I never gave it much thought, but they were right. In my life it has changed things for the better.
Holding my son this Christmas, and really every day made me put things in perspective, and made me thankful for many things.
I am thankful for my wife, and great examples of parents.
I am thankful for friends, and the opportunity to work in a business that I love.
I am thankful for many things as we hit 2011, and wish you and your families a very Happy New Year.
