Pretty hard to believe, but for a quarter of a decade It's been one of the biggest charity golf tournaments in Western New York, and on Monday the "Jim Kelly Celebrity Golf Classic" celebrated it's Silver Anniversary.
A record 60 foursomes containing current and former NFL players, and a laundry list of celebrities, gathered at Terry Hills Golf Club in Batavia for the 25th annual event.
"I never thought that it would get to 25.", said Kelly. "As long as they keep coming out I'm going to go to 30. You can only take one year at a time but so far so good", continued the Hall of Fame QB.
Among those on hand on Monday were ESPN Broadcaster Chris Berman, Hall of Fame QB Dan Marino, Indianapolis Colts President Bill Polian, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski. Several of Kellys former teammates including Andre Reed, Bruce Smith and Thurman Thomas were also on hand.
The two day event which includes a Gala on Sunday night in downtown Buffalo raises money for the Kelly for Kids Foundation, and Hunters Hope. With the majority of the proceeds staying in Western New York. Since 1987 the Kelly for Kids foundation has granted over $4 million dollars to support several organizations.
Congratulations to Jim and his foundation on 25 years of giving back to the WNY Community.
