With Father's Day coming up this Sunday I just wanted to say something about my father. Jack Radford died a few years ago at the age of 85. Prostate cancer claimed my dad late in life. He was healthy his entire life but became ill and then passed away, all in less than a year.
Just a quick story about the old man. When I was a kid I was in the Boy Scouts. One night I came home from the Monday meeting and didn't see my dad right away. About half an hour later I came upstairs and saw him standing in the front window, waving to someone pulling out of the driveway in a car.
I came up and asked him who he was waving to? He said he was just waving thanks to the parent who was driving the kids home that night. I told him I had been home for half an hour already and had ridden my bicycle. I also noticed that it was "HIS" car backing out of the driveway.
The police department found the car abandoned not too far away a few hours later. My father was waving thanks to the people who were stealing his car that night! Funny how you remember certain things, so many years later. Wish my father was here so he could laugh about that story just one more time.
