A benefit will take place this weekend for a husband and father from Lancaster seriously injured in a crash involving a drunk driver.

John Reinard was heading home after watching a Bills game on September 16th when he was rear-ended at a red light. The crash left Reinard in intensive care with a broken arm, eight broken ribs, a fractured spine and serious injuries to his spinal cord.

Reinard has undergone a number of surgeries and continues his recovery at a long-term care facility. He is still unable to walk. Doctors have told his wife and teenage son that it could be another 18 months until the extent of the damage to his spine is known.

Reinard's family is now preparing for his return home. But before that happens, they will need to equip their house with a wheelchair lift.

A benefit for Reinard will take place this Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Resurrection Church, Msgr. Malikowski Center, at 134 Como Park Boulevard in Cheektowaga.

Loved ones have also setup a GoFundMepage. All donations will go toward paying off medical bills and to help his family make modifications to their home.

The driver who hit Reinard was reportedly uninsured.
