One hundred inner-city Buffalo kids will get to go to camp this summer thanks to community's generosity.

Neighbors, local leaders and famous athletes gathered at Statler City Wednesday night for City Kids @ Summer Camp's seventh annual Ingram Micro "Night of Champions" benefit.

Attendees enjoyed snacks, music, silent auctions and raffles.

Proceeds help City Kids @ Summer Camp send kids to Camp Weona in Wyoming County.

City Kids @ Summer Camp Camp Founder Chris Delprince said the camp experience lasts long beyond the campers free week.

"There's this camaraderie and we groom these kids," Delprince said. "They become chaperones and junior chaperones and then we have a scholarship program."

Delprince says the camp experience also helps connect the kids with mentors.

"There's a lot of kids that we brought up under our wings and they call us 'dad,'" Delprince said.
