Batavia native named to Uber's executive team

Uber has named a native Western New Yorker to it's executive leadership team.

The ridesharing company hired Batavia native Rebecca Messina to be its first-ever global Chief Marketing Officer.

Messina will manage Uber's marketing teams around the world.

She comes to Uber with more than 25 years of experience. She spent two years at Chicago's Beam Suntory as the global Chief Marketing Officer. Before that, Messina spent 22 years at The Coca-Cola Company, where she most recently served as Senior Vice President, Marketing & Innovation for Ventures & Emerging Brands. 

Messina holds a bachelor’s degree from Miami University of Ohio. She speaks English, Spanish, Italian and French.

According to its website, Uber is currently operating in 65 countries and more than 600 cities around the world. The company boasts more than 16,000 employees and more than three million drivers.
