A new recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatrics might have new moms and dads thinking twice before spending money on a pricey nursery.

The AAP says babies should sleep in the same room as their parents for at least the first six months, and ideally for the first year.  The academy did specify that the babies should not sleep in the same bed as parents.

The AAP says sharing a room can reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome by as much as 50%.  Most children who die from SIDS are between one and four months old.
