The Depew business was started six years ago by Debbie and John Flanagan. John has been painting since the age of 15 and is a certified art teacher.
Art-By-You provides people with little or no art training an opportunity to create something worthy of hanging over their sofa. Bridgette Hawn has been signing up for classes for four years. "I like coming to these because it's always great to get new techniques."
Each class runs about two hours, and all of the students follow along with the instructor to create their paintings. Each work of art is a little different, and each student is able to make a few of their own personal artistic choices.
John says everyone can do it. "It's a little piece of self esteem. They take home something that they did and that's pretty cool."
Art-By You has special classes for kids, they do private parties and you can keep up to date with scheduled classes by checking their website.
