The Erie County Democratic Chair is asking Kevin Gaughan to run for Erie County Comptroller.

However, Gaughan says he hasn't made up his mind as to whether he will pursue the position.

The Harvard graduate is an attorney in the Buffalo area and an advocate of government reform.

The Erie County Democratic Chair asked Gaughan to run for the position after the endorsed candidate, Lynn Szalkowski, withdrew from the race because of health conditions.

Gaughan says he has worked tirelessly for years to develop ways to lower property taxes and would brings that experience to the comptroller position.

Gaughan would be challenging current Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw.

The endorsed republican, independent, and conservative candidate says he wants to continue the successful work he has been doing for the taxpayers. He says he has been holding politicians accountable and keeping a watchful eye on spending.

Gaughan says he will be deciding any day now whether he will run for the office of comptroller.
