A Cattaraugus County woman attacked by her own dog is recovering.
State police say 66-year-old Jacki Hopkins of the Town of Portville was attacked by her 125-pound Doberman after it had escaped from a fenced-in yard. Hopkins' son and neighbor found her after she called for help from a woooded area behind her home.
Hopkins was found lying on the ground, suffering from numerous bite wounds to her face, upper body and legs. She was treated at the scene and was transported to Olean General Hospital then flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC. She is listed in serious condition.
Police say the dog had to be put down by responding troopers.
