Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -- At the time of the hit and run accident, Lynette Venezia was five months pregnant. Andrew Siwy, a father of four, pled not guilty to one charge of leaving the scene of an incident that results in serious injury.
The 44 year old mother to be suffered a traumatic brain injury after the accident and just a month ago began suffering from seizures. Her doctors at Sisters Hospital intervened at 33 weeks. Venezia's baby, Destiny, was delivered monday by C-section. Destiny weighed in at four pounds, four ounces. Her doctor tells us the delivery went very well.
Lynette suffered some short term memory loss after the accident. She is still unable to communicate and seems unaware of destiny's birth. Baby Destiny was delivered premature, but today she is in stable condition at the NICU at Sisters Hospital. Destiny should do well, but she may not be out of the hospital for another few weeks.
Lynette's prognosis isn't as clear. She can open her eyes, but she's not communicating yet. If she continues to do well, Lynette could be moved to ECMC for rehabilitation.
