(Chautauqua County, NY) Weather conditions in the Southern Tier of New York State had residents driving with caution and pulling out the snow shovels.

Strong winds off Lake Erie knocked down tree branches and ripped off boat storage covers.

The Dunkirk Pier was closed after debris tossed up by the turbulent waters of Lake Erie caused a safety hazard.

Lake effect snow bands swept through Chautauqua County dumping several inches of snow.

With temperatures expected to drop, residents are bracing themselves for more wintry weather and snow accumulation.

"You have to remember, when that lake is warm . . . we pay," says Sherman Resident Dianna Crandall.
