Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - It's the first day of winter break for many local student. You may be thinking, what could I do this week? We've got some suggestions.

You can go to the Aquarium of Niagara to see the penguins and sea lions.

"To learn about the aquatic environment and why it's important to conserve and protect environment," Aquarium Director Dan Acara said.

You can also travel to East Aurora to the Explore and More Children's Museum.

"Its absolutely a great place for parents to bring their kids on a break from school. It's fun for children of all ages," Parent Robin Jovick said.

Beaver Meadow Audubon Center in Java, N.Y. takes you back to nature with spiders and snakes.

"This place is a place for kids to reconnect with nature,' Beaver Meadow Director Mark Carra said.

You can also enjoy some amazing art from artist near and far at the Albright Knox Art Gallery, right here in the Queen City.

"I think that younger kids will gear toward all art and I think that happens magically when you come to the museum," Curator Holly Hughes said.

The gallery has painting, sculptures, video art and much more. Hughes says there are many artists that said the gallery inspired them at a young age.

"One thing I hear from artists that they remember the trips to the museum as a kid with school and many say they were inspired to become artist from their trips to the Albright Knox," Hughes said.

And when you come to the gallery, you are not on your own. There are many people to answer questions and walk you step by step through the amazing talent that is showcased. Hughes says its something special.

"This is a true gem of Buffalo, to come here and experience this art, you are not going to see this on the TV or computer," Hughes said.
