Two Prominent Doctors Injured In Fire

BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) Doctors Julian and Clara Ambrus are in Erie County Medical Center after a fire at their Buffalo mansion early Friday morning.

The couple, both 86 years old, were taken from their Windsor Avenue mansion, just off Lincoln Parkway.

Buffalo Fire Investigators continue their investigation into a house fire
that occurred in the 100 block of Windsor. Firefighters responded to the single alarm fire just after midnight early Friday morning.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but investigators are focusing on a space heater located on the 2nd floor. The two occupants, both 86 years old, were taken to ECMC to be treated.

Julian Ambrus has been relaeased.

Clara Ambrus, who was rescued by firefighters, is listed in critical condition. Both apparently suffered smoke inhalation.

Engines 19, 36 and 37 along with Ladders 4,6 and 13 along with Rescue 1 all responded.

The prominent couple have been honored for their humanitarian efforts over the years.
