BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - A wind advisory will remain in effect for all of Western New York except Allegany County from 6am to 6pm on Friday. With winds gusting near 50 miles per hour, motorists took extra time driving into work and pedestrians braced themselves for the frigid winds. As of late Friday afternoon, there were no power outages to report. The strong winds also pushed snow into roadways and sidewalks.
"It makes it very challenging in the winter," said Bicyclist Michael Kazinski. "With the sidewalks being covered it forces you to get onto the street. You really want to steer clear of the vehicles, but that's not an option."
Crews with the City of Buffalo's Impact Team also spent all day shoveling sidewalks in the city's Lovejoy neighborhood.
