BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The extreme winds certainly took a toll on many areas in WNY Tuesday.
The wind is being blamed for knocking a massive tree branch on the hood of passing SUV on Seneca Street in South Buffalo, sending the female driver to the hospital.
The wind is also a suspect in a house fire on the Cattaragus Indian Reservation. Fire crews reported downed and sparking power lines near the blaze, and the strong winds hindered their ability to fight the blaze.
Along the water front waves were crashing over the break wall, spewing water and debris onto Lake Shore Road in Hamburg. Lake Shore at Hoover Street was shut down Thursday night because of wind and waves.
The wind also knocked over garbage bins sending debris and trash blowing down side streets in the city.
Driving will be hazardous as the strong winds continue through Wednesday morning.
