Washington, DC (WKBW) - There will be major federal budget cuts but experts are not predicting doom and gloom right away. It's going to take time to feel the affects of these steep cuts.

That means this morning you won't see those delays at the airport you've heard so much about this week. You will also not see four-hour wait times just to cross the boarder. Also, those cuts you've heard about at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base won't be automatic, either. The cuts will come over time as departments figure out how they will be affected.

The White House insists, eventually, they will hurt. Funding for schools, airport security, defense and boarder patrol are all on the chopping block.

This will happen only if the cuts stand as is. Congressional Republicans support the decrease in spending bur said the proposed cuts don't make sense. They plan to meet next week to come up with an alternate plan to cut spending. You can expect Democrats and the White House to do the same.
