BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The Board of Directors for the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) met Monday to discuss the Canal Side Project.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown attended the meeting to present some ideas on what should anchor the Canal Side Project.

Since Bass Pro backed out of coming to the area, the City of Buffalo has been accepting ideas from residents. More than 9,000 ideas and suggestions were submitted.

Business First of Buffalo reports that the most popular suggestion has been for an indoor waterpark to anchor the massive waterfront project.
Other ideas include a number of retailers or museums.

Larry Quinn, Vice Chairman of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation and Chairman of the Canal Side Delvelopment Committee, asked the Mayor if it would be worth taking one last look at Bass Pro.

The Mayor says the public was frustrated over the long process, and would not respond kindly if Bass Pro drags their feet in saying yes to Buffalo.
