AMHERST, NY ( WKBW ) One thing is for sure, there is something fouling up the roofs and siding of several homes in Amherst.
One homeowner told Eyewitness News, "It's yellow, there are smatterings all over the siding. We all have our inklings as to what it could be."
A home on Berryman Drive and several others on Washington Highway seem to have been splashed with a brownish yellow substance around January 11th.
Many residents suspect that an airplane may have emptied it's bathroom contents mid flight, dowsing their neighborhood with the foul smelling stuff.
The homeowner we talked to claims calls were made to a few government agencies, and that they had a few strange twists and takes on what they felt it was.
The Federal Aviation Administration did send inspectors to check out the mess last week, however their investigation determined that flocks of birds are responsible.
The F.A.A. also replayed their radar records and say that there were no planes in the area at the time. Residents are not convinced.
"We have children in the neighborhood. This area is full of kids. We're dragging it into our houses. If it is an FAA issue, or an overhead dropping, then we want a clean up, that's it. It's not anything more than that. We just want to make sure the houses and neighborhood is safe for the kids.
Eyewitness News will continue to follow the story, and get updates on any test results the homeowners there might have found.
