BATAVIA, NY ( WKBW ) New York State Police held a press conference in Batavia Thursday to provide updates on the investigation into the Wyoming County SPCA.

The shelter in Attica, along with its satellite adoption center in the Eastern Hill Mall were raided Wednesday following a two week investigation.

Thursday, Police and animal rescue groups described the conditions inside the Attica shelter, saying the facility housed up to 300 cats. They described the shelter as deplorable, with feces and urine everywhere, including on the walls and ceiling. Animals were allowed to roam free and many were living inside the walls and inside cupboards.

Authorities have cataloged and examined 250 cats and 3 dogs. 6 cats were euthanized due to poor health. It's also alleged that the Executive Director obtained and administered drugs to the animals. It is unclear how the drugs were obtained.

The Wyoming County District Attorney says charges are pending at this time.
