Buffalo, NY -- (WKBW) The trial of Muzzammil Hassan is nearing an end. Dr. David Myrow will
testify Friday around noon. He is a psychologist who treated both Muzammil and his wife Aasiya.
Summations will begin Monday. The jury will begin deliberations around lunchtime Monday, Judge
Franczyk said Thursday.
Muzzammil Hassan called three witnesses Thursday. As Judge Franczyk warned him, they did not
appear to be willing to corroborate his story that he was the abused victim, and his wife was abusive.
Hassan asking very generalized questions about battered spouse syndrome of Dr. Gary Horwitz who
was an expert for the prosecution. Dr Horwitz testified that in a personal profile he conducted,
Hassan scored very highly in compulsive category and very low in the inter-personal respect category.
Prosecutors were not legally allowed to bring up that Dr. Horwitz did not consider Muzzammil Hassan a
battered spouse during cross examination.
Earlier, his former secretary testified that Muzzammil was demanding and Aasiya was quiet around him.
Also, a medical doctor who treated Aasiya for domestic violence injuries testified that Muzzammil
Hassan confessed to him that he beat his wife. Hassan angrily fired back, no I didn't. The doctor replied,
yes you did.
